A Standard Outlet Wasn’t Built to Charge a Car
Plug an EV into a regular wall outlet, and you’re adding only a few miles of range per hour — fine for a phone, painfully slow for a car. A Level 2 home charger runs on a dedicated 240V circuit and adds roughly 20–40 miles of range per hour, so you plug in at night and wake up to a full battery. No more planning your day around a public charger.
What a Proper Install Actually Involves
An EV charger isn’t a plug-and-play appliance — it’s a 240V circuit wired into your main electrical panel. That’s licensed electrical work, and it’s exactly the part most solar and “handyman” installers quietly subcontract out.
- We don’t subcontract. Our in-house C-10 electricians do the job to code the first time.
- We check your panel first. Many older homes don’t have spare capacity for a 240V charger. We verify that before we quote — so there are no surprises mid-install.
- Clean routing. Conduit run neatly, charger mounted where you actually want it, permit pulled and inspected.
We Install Every EV Charger, Not Just Tesla
- Tesla Wall Connector for Tesla and NACS-equipped vehicles
- Universal / J1772 hardwired chargers for Rivian, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, BMW, Mercedes, and the rest
- NEMA 14-50 outlets if you’d rather plug in a portable charger
Not sure which charger fits your car and your garage? That’s what the free assessment is for.
Why Homeowners Choose AWS Solar
- 18 years, same name, same owners. We’ve been AWS Solar since 2007 — not last year’s startup with a new logo.
- Licensed C-10 electricians, in-house. The electrical work is the whole job. We do it ourselves.
- One company for the whole picture. Charger, panel upgrade, solar, and battery — if you want your EV charging off your own solar or Powerwall, we design it all together.
- Honest scoping. We’ll tell you straight what your panel needs and what it doesn’t.
What the Process Looks Like
- Free assessment — in-home or virtual. We look at your panel, your vehicle, and where you want the charger.
- Load check and sizing — we confirm your panel has capacity and size the circuit for your car.
- We handle the permit, from pulling to inspection, start to finish.
- Professional installation — our own in-house C-10 crew, clean conduit, mounted where you want it.
- Testing and walkthrough — we test the charger and make sure you’re charging before we leave.
What Does It Cost?
EV charger installations vary more than people expect because the price lies in the electrical work, not the charger. A short run to a panel with spare capacity is straightforward. A long conduit run, a new breaker, or a panel that’s already maxed out changes the number.
So instead of a bait number, we give you a real one: the assessment is free, we scope it honestly, and if your panel needs an upgrade, we’ll quote that in-house too. You get one clear price you can actually plan around.
EV Charger Installation — Common Questions
Can you install any brand of charger? Yes. We install the Tesla Wall Connector and all universal J1772 chargers, as well as NEMA 14-50 outlets for portable units.
Do I need a panel upgrade? Sometimes. Older or fully-loaded panels may not have room for a 240V charger. We check your panel’s available capacity during the free assessment, so you know before you commit.
How fast will it charge? A Level 2 charger adds roughly 20–40 miles of range per hour, depending on your charger and vehicle — far faster than a standard outlet. Most EVs fully recharge overnight.
Can I charge my EV from my solar or battery? Yes. If that’s your goal, we design the charger, solar, and battery to work together as one system.
Do you pull the permit? Yes — permitting and inspection are included. You don’t chase anything.
Are you actually licensed? Yes. AWS Solar is a licensed C-10 electrical and solar contractor, license #901196, in business since 2007.
